The Barbecue

Men never really cook at home, huh?
But they become `chefs` at the barbecue!
Smoke is billowing into the air-
to leave cooking for men seems so unfair…
The hot grill is ready, what a state…
Hot charcoals, the beef and sausages wait.
The picnic was longed for
by friends and relations galore.
The fleshy fruit of pears and peaches
place a delicious dessert in their reaches.
It’s lovely under the trees,
mind you don’t annoy the bees!
Drink plenty of water so as not to dehydrate-
there seems a lot more than this at stake!
The birds seem to have taken to the air.
The animals are being kept in despair
for a sausage from the grill
to feel that they too have had their fill!
The fire is finally dying in the rain,
but picnic-time will come soon again!
