In Guantánamo on the Island of Cuba helds the little Toto,
four years of age,
in his brown hand a white phone.
It's made out of plastic and only a toy.
But this doesn't know the child
and so Toto phones with his father.
Hallo Pappi, Pappi, speak to me!
Here is Toto!
How are you Pappi?
Pappi, Pappi, here is Toto,
please speak to me!
Weather is very bad. It's raining cats and dogs.
I wish to tell you something
of the little dog and the red cat
and that you read
a story for your son.
But you are not here! You are never, never here!
Pappi, Pappi please speak! Toto, Toto is waiting for you every day!
But Ricardo, his Pappi paid his last money
for going away of Cuba throug the Dominican Republic
to Nicaragua and of there to Guatemala.
Now his Pappi cries lonely under a tree in Mexico
near the border of the United States,
very hungry, thirsty, in ugly, dirty clothes and it's raining tears.
