The small town of Crowley's Hollow had always been shrouded in mystery and superstition. Its narrow, oft barely lit, and winding streets were lined with dilapidated houses, their windows boarded up and their doors usually locked tight. The townspeople whispered of dark rituals and otherworldly creatures that lurked within the shadows. But no one dared to speak of the mysterious mansion that loomed over the town, the one that had been abandoned for decades.
It was said that the mansion was once home to a powerful warlock, who dabbled in the dark arts and was rumored to have made a deal with the Devil itself. The townspeople believed that his spirit still lingered within the abandoned walls, waiting for the right moment to unleash his wrath upon the town. Many considered it possible that the adversary lurked to possess or brainwash new victims to serve as pawns.
When Emma and her husband, Javon, moved to Crowley's Hollow, they were drawn to the eerie mansion from the start. They had always been fascinated by the occult and were curious to explore the abandoned mansion. But, as they delved deeper into the mansion's secrets, they discovered that there was more to it than just rumors and superstitions.
Strange occurrences began to happen as soon as they stepped foot inside the mansion. They heard whispers in the dead of night and felt a cold, menacing presence watching them. Emma started having vivid nightmares, wherein she saw herself being sacrificed in a dark ritual by hooded figures. Javon, who was always skeptical of the preternatural being part of true occultism, couldn't explain the strange symbols that appeared on the walls overnight.
As they continued to unravel the mysteries of the mansion, they stumbled upon a hidden room in the basement. It was filled with ancient books and artifacts, all related to the occult. But the most disturbing discovery was a journal written by the warlock who had once lived there. In it, he wrote of summoning a powerful entity from another dimension, one that promised him immortality and untold power in exchange for his soul.
Emma and Javon knew they had to leave the mansion, ASAP (as soon, as possible), but it seemed to already have a grip on them that they couldn't escape. The closer they got to uncovering the truth, the more the mansion seemed to come alive. Strange creatures roamed the hallways, and the walls seemed to pulsate with a sinister energy.
As they delved deeper into the warlock's rituals, they realized that he wasn't the only one who had made a deal with the entity. The townspeople had also been seduced by its promises, and they had even been sacrificing their children to keep the entity satisfied.
Emma and Javon knew they had to put an end to the madness. They gathered all the information they had collected and performed a ritual to banish the entity back to its own dimension. As they chanted, the mansion began to shake, and a blinding light filled the room. When it was over, the mansion was nothing but a pile of rubble, and the townspeople were freed from the entity's grasp.
But, as they walked away from the ruins, Emma and Javon couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. They knew that the entity was still out there, waiting for another opportunity to enter their world. And they were left wondering if they had truly banished it, or if they had just unleashed it upon the world once again.
The End
Bonus: Experimental Add-On Story 'Six Years Later':
It had been years since the small town of Crowley's Hollow had experienced any sort of preternatural occurrences. The locals had long forgotten the horrifying events that took place in the old abandoned mansion on the outskirts of the town. But little did they know, an entity that was banished years ago was about to make a comeback, bringing with it a Lovecraftian horror that would haunt the town once again.
The old abandoned mansion had always been a topic of curiosity among the townspeople. It was rumored that the mansion belonged to a wealthy family who practiced occult rituals and worshipped an ancient deity. The townspeople believed that the strange occurrences in the town were a result of their dark practices. However, the truth was far more sinister, as Emma and Javon were far from the diabolical warlock and his heritage.
Two years ago, a group of teenagers had stumbled upon the mansion while exploring the outskirts of the town. They were fascinated by the rumors and stories surrounding the mansion and decided to investigate further. What they found inside was beyond their wildest imaginations. The mansion was like a scene from a Lovecraftian horror story, with strange symbols etched on the walls and a putrid smell that lingered in the air.
As they explored further, they came across a hidden chamber where they found an ancient book. The book was written in a language that none of them could understand, but nonetheless they were drawn to it. Little did they know, they had unleashed an evil entity that had been dormant due to Emma's and Javon's desperate measures. The entity fed on fear, vice, and chaos, and it soon began to take control of the town, causing chaos and destruction wherever it went.
The town was in a state of panic as strange and unexplainable events began to occur. People reported seeing strange creatures lurking in the shadows, and some even claimed to have seen the dead walking among the living. The town was gripped with fear, and the once peaceful town was now a place of horror and turmoil.
The townspeople turned to the local authorities for help, but they were helpless against the preternatural force that was terrorizing their town. It was then that they remembered the vague, old tales of the wealthy family and their dark practices. They realized that the only way to stop the entity was to banish it back to where it came from.
With the help of a local occult expert and every brave faithful local willing to help, they performed a ritual to banish the entity back to the other realm. The excruciating ritual was finally successful, and the town was once again at peace. The old abandoned mansion was demolished, and the townspeople tried to move on, thinking that the horror was over. But, they were wrong.
Three more years later, on a dark and stormy night, a group of teenagers stumbled upon the ruins of the old mansion. They found the ancient book and decided to recite from it, not knowing the consequences of their actions. The entity was back, more powerful and vengeful than ever before.
The town of Crowley's Hollow was once again plunged into a Lovecraftian horror story. The entity had returned, and this time, it was determined to seek revenge on those who banished it. The streets were once again filled with turmoil and destruction, as the entity unleashed its wrath on the town.
The townspeople realized that they had underestimated the power of the entity and that it was not something that could be easily banished. They were left to face the consequences of their actions, and the town of Crowley's Hollow was forever changed by the return of the banished entity.
The story of the banished entity and its return serves as a warning to all those who dare to dabble in the occult and the unknown. Some things are better left undisturbed, for they may bring forth a unspeakable horror that will haunt us for eternity. The tragic town tale of Crowley's Hollow will forever serve as a reminder of the dangers of meddling with the forbidden knowledge that occultism, drug addicts, and artists occasionally grasp in their sensitive moments.

Newcomer Info:
Lovecraftian occult horror is a subgenre of horror influenced by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, a 20th-century American writer & proven racist, known for his cosmic horror and themes of forbidden knowledge, ancient deities, and otherworldly beings. Lovecraft's stories often explore the insignificance of humanity in the face of vast, incomprehensible forces that exist beyond our understanding. The Cthulhu Myth does not advocate or imply racism in modern roleplays & fiction!
In Lovecraftian occult horror, occult practices and preternatural elements are intertwined with the themes of cosmic dread and existential terror. Characters may delve into obscure rituals, ancient texts, and dark magic, only to uncover horrifying truths that drive them to madness or doom.
Common themes in Lovecraftian occult horror include:
- Forbidden knowledge: Characters seeking to uncover the secrets of the universe may stumble upon dark revelations that disrupt their understanding of reality.
- Otherworldly entities: Ancient, godlike beings from beyond the stars often lurk in the shadows, exerting their influence on mortal affairs.
- Insanity and despair: The realization of humanity's insignificance in the face of cosmic horror can drive characters to madness or despair.
- Isolation and helplessness: Characters may find themselves alone and powerless in the face of incomprehensible cosmic forces, unable to escape their fate.
Overall, Lovecraftian occult horror combines elements of preternatural horror, cosmic dread, and existential terror to create a unique and chilling subgenre that continues to influence contemporary horror storytelling.
Ai supported writing and machine learning put to a test, just as I was tested along: The 600 word limits of
flash fiction stories here, and an attempt to make something of it. In my opinion, the sequel is weaker, and
the first one IS too close to `Joseph Curven´ from HPL's `The Case Charles Dexter Ward´.
On the good side: It is inspired by Resident Evil type of video games, as the larger group of readers
prefers `monster hunter violent action´ to the often subtle and undefeatable cosmic horror of Lovecraft's
supposed intent. Again, Cthulhu Roleplayers know the Arkham House influence and not only the raw
basics HPL finished during his lifetime.
The short stories fit myself being only a hobby author, as it remains UNPAID WORK to write, edit, turn into
audio or video. `Hey, paypal me loads of monetary gifts, I wanna bribe Jörg Schwab'N'stuff?´ ;-) Authors comment
