it opens and closes its wings
anxiously awaiting what your visit may bring
already aware that soon it is past
time will be running, always too fast
the moment I set my eyes on you
the butterfly in my belly, what will it do
it will flap its wings at neckbreaking speed
vibrating air, generating heat
in shared moments it will fly
through whirlwinds, valleys and into the sky
reaching for the sun and getting burnt
the moment you leave it returns
to close its wings, keep it safe
the memory of you is at stake
from this it will feed till I see you again
when the nervous dance anew I begin
