Meike Schrut

Day for the dead people

It sounded for me in such a way as if had
YOU
the dead people forget.
Should this be the case,
I hope: one day one will also forget you,
no stone should remind of you,
no word tell of your existence!
Do not speak to me of hatred,
I do not hate you,
but I honour my dead people in thoughts.
Should there be in beyond a festival board,
I wished, they would sit everybody there together:
that which loved each other in the past and that which despised themselves.
They should stumble on her next life.
