Andreas Galambos

Where are you?

Where are you? I'd like to know.
Can this all be true?
Is it the behavior I show?
Am I ugly too?

Am I blind for all your beauty?
Overlooked you on the way?
My heart - is it off duty?
Do my senses go astray?

The single's freedom to exist
versus love, the wonderful pain!
Would you call me a masochist
if I preferred a loving chain?

For what good does one all his joy
without someone to share it with.
Sharing bliss is the real McCoy,
and sharing love is its zenith.

One day I will surely understand.
Until then, I stand rapt in awe
before the power of love's command,
of Cupid's arrow I never saw.

Unerring it keeps missing me.
Am I wearing a cover?
Whomever I am kissing, she
ain't the one I want for lover.

That is why you, too, are lurching
from one flop to the other.
Aimless wandering, searching,
with love enough to smother!

Where are you? I just don't know.
It simply can't be true.
Is it the behavior I show?
Am I ugly too?

Next time you see me passing by,
not seeing you, not praising you,
kick me awake! Don't be shy!
My love is still hidden - but true.
