Karen Halloway

For Me?

Is this holiday time of lights and songs, for me
who has done so many things wrong?
Are the trees with décor so merry,
designed for me, who has so much worry?
Is Santa checking his list twice and seeing me
             who has not been nice?
And was the Christ-child, so meek and mild,
Born for me, who has been so wild?
My heart cries out with guilt and shame,
“That I’m not worthy, and I’m to blame.”

Yet there is a part of me,
That wants so badly to be set free.
And with that want , I want to see,
That  “Yes, it is truly all for me.”

It’s for that reason, there’s This season,
Of Love and Hope and Light,
and despite the “stuff” that makes me gruff,
        there is a brighter Light…
      for me…for me….for me…..
