Mauro Montacchiesi

The rumble

Unchained spirit,
you will never cease
to set your gaze on the sky,
for it is your reflection.
You glimpse,
in the perpetual alternation
of its colors,
the deepest folds
of your intimate self,
of your harsh chasm.
You are happy to penetrate
into your reflected figure,
which you envelop in a glance,
in an embrace.
But now, you are scared,
because in the sky, you hear
the rumbling of your soul,
fiery and rebellious.
A free spirit,
no one has been able to probe
the meanders of your chasms.
Sky,
no one has the certainty
of your most arcane resources.
You are thoughtful in preserving
your most occult beliefs.
And nevertheless,
you wage war against each other,
without mercy,
without regret.
So much do you idolize
the slaughter and the torment?
Now comrades,
now rivals.
